Australia Day Party
Happy New Year!
As we begin to look forward to the 2011 season, the club is excited to announce that we will be hosting an Australia Day Party.
Here are the salient details:
When: Friday 28, January 2011 – better late than never
Where: The Buffalo Gap
Time: Aussie menu available from 5pm, Music begins at 8pm through Midnight
The evening is designed for you and your family and friends to experience some good Aussie tucker (food) and culture. The menu includes:
* Roast Lamb and vegetables
* Fish & Chips
* Pies and Chips
* Aussie Hamburger
* Aussie Pizza
We will also be bringing in some cold Aussie Beer and decent Aussie wine, which will be served throughout the evening.
The Aussie menu will be available from 5pm. This will hopefully enable players and fans with young children to attend and share in some of the fun without having a late night or having the expense of a baby sitter. Families will be able to eat either downstairs (all night) or upstairs until 8pm when the music starts.
At 8 pm we have a local Portland band, Mr. Fisk, coming in to play some live Australian Classics mixed in with some original tunes of their own. Rumor has it that they will be joined by some special guests for some special cameo appearances. Around 10pm Gavin Bruhn – “The Australian DJ” will be spinning the vinyl/plastic and will play more Australian music until midnight – singing and dancing will be encouraged.
Throughout the evening, participants will have the opportunity to participate in raffles, giveaways, and some classic Australian comedy. Feel free to dress up in your traditional aussie attire or as your favorite aussie icon,: dame Edna, Angry Anderson, Pete Garrett, Merv Hughes, Kylie Mole, Chopper Reid, Con the Fruiter, Strop – there will be a prize for the best dressed.
As always we encourage you to bring along friends and family, whether it be bringing in a group for an aussie feast, listening to some great music or dancing till late. Tables can be reserved for dinner by calling 503 244 7111.
As part of the season’s first fundraising effort there is no entry fee for the evening but we are suggesting a $5 donation per person of $10 donation per family.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
