AFL Grand Final Night: September 26
It’s time once again to look forward to footy’s biggest event of the year: the AFL Grand Final! As always the Steelheads will be holding our annual Grand Final party to take in the game and help send the team off to represent Portland at the USAFL Nationals.
What: AFL Grand Final Night
Where: On Deck Sports Bar & Grill, NW 14th & Kearney (map)
When: Friday, September 26th, 7:00pm
Whether they’ve seen footy before or not, bring your family and friends to witness the most exciting game of the year. Proceeds from the night will go towards the Steelheads’ upcoming trip to the USAFL National Championships this October in Columbus, Ohio. It’s been a big year for the club with an influx of new players and more games than ever against other clubs, so the boys will be looking to bring back some hardware from Ohio! Tickets to the Grand Final night are $10 each and can be purchased below.
We’ll be drawing the numbers for our $500 backwards raffle. Tickets for the backwards raffle can be purchased at http://www.portlandfooty.com/backwards-raffle/. Along with the backwards raffle we will also be holding a raffle with prizes including Steelheads gear and playing our “Grand Final Squares” game again.
Backwards Raffle Drawing
We’ll be drawing the numbers, all 200 of them, for our backwards raffle. If you’re never the one to get your number drawn in a raffle – this is the raffle for you. If you’re the very last number drawn you’ll be taking home our grand prize of $500. There are only 200 tickets and they’re selling fast. More details can be found at http://www.portlandfooty.com/backwards-raffle/.
Grand Final Squares Fundraiser
As in past years, we will be playing our Grand Final Squares game. The game is played on a 10×10 grid, with each row and column numbered from 0-9. Each axis will represent a team in the Grand Final. Participants in the game can purchase a random square for $5 each.
During the game, at each quarter break and at full time, the score will correspond with a square on the grid based on the last digit of each team’s scoring total. For example, last year at half time the score was Sydney 46 to Hawthorn 30, so the correspond square was Sydney 6 Hawthorn 0. At the end of the first 3 quarters, the winning square receives a prize of $25. At the final siren, the winning square wins the grand prize of $100. A square can also win more than once.
So for $5 you get 3 chances at $25, and one chance to win $100, plus the added suspense! Squares can be purchased online using the form below, or at the event.
