It was a great day for footy in the U.S. Many new players from the four
teams got a taste for some of the best quality football in the country.
Portland Power is very grateful to Denver, Seattle and Vancouver for their
support in helping to build this team. This time last year we were playing
as a metro team and now, as a result of the tournament, Portland is a full
squad team in its own right. Congratulations to Denver on their clean
sweep of the inaugural Portland
Invitational Tournament, your
club sets the standard for all other teams to aim for. Hopefully next year
we can invite you back to defend your title against even more teams.
Thanks also go to the many people who helped out on the day from the
umpires to the fans. It was one of the best showcases of football any of
us has ever been involved in stateside and is a sign of great things to
come in NW footy.
Portland AFC would like to make special mention of our umpires on the day:
Peter Klaebe, Steve Earl, Todd Helton, Andrew Donlen, Mark O'Brien, and DJ
Heffernan.

SEATTLE GAME 1
Portland Powers Its Way Over
Seattle Grizzlies
In
a test-run game on the field being used for the inaugural Portland
Invitational Tournament (June 14-15 at John Deere Field), the Portland
Power hosted their rivals the Seattle Grizzlies on Saturday, April 12th.
It was decided 16-a-side would work for both teams and there was plenty of
space to stretch the legs in the first full-squad game of 2008 for both
clubs.
The resulting match was the highest standard of football played in the 5
years of competition between the two teams. To read the full match report
