The Portland Australian Football Club got its start in 2003 with the establishment of the men's team. Originally called the Portland Power after founding club members acquired a set of jerseys from the Port Adelaide Power of the AFL, the team officially changed its name to the Steelheads in 2011 to better represent Portland.

The Steelheads have competed at Nationals since 2010. They were crowned Division 3 National Champions back to back in 2016 and 2017. The Steelheads most recently won the Division 2 Western Regionals in 2023, having previously earned Western Regionals championship titles in 2018 and 2019.

The 2025 Steelheads team will be lead by head coach Martin "Marto" Coventry and assistant coach Joss "Beans" Scholten!

New players are always welcomed and encouraged to come out to trainings and see what the team is all about. No experience or prior sporting background necessary. Email recruiting@portlandfooty.com or swing by a training if you're interested in joining!
